Rare lapses of egghead sobriety (as above) are forgivable, I guess.

But could backing off too much into a character-role shell (taking a transcendental view, granting primacy to the wider target audience, ceding space to other---closer--people addressed, assuming a realistic non-participatory role) give the impression of being somehow robotic and weird?

A lapse quite the other way round?

The "no pretence" approach (reference: "Hiya" blog), actually, is very hard to sustain, you'll admit. No hard feelings, though. That's a result of web reality.

Theoretically, millions more have access to this blog than to any single print publication--ever thought about that? But this little fact, nor anything else by way of emotion etc, should stop the free flow of words.

In this context, an honest writer is an honest writer, whether it's one addressed, or billions. That's a test of character.
